Making your bed

Here is a new habit that I learned which has made a positive impact in my life. I make my bed the minute I am up. Not just in the morning but whatever time of the day I sleep.

Previously this used to seem like a hassle and I would leave it as it is upto a week till it looked like an inmate had been sleeping in it. Here is why making my bed makes me feel good:

1. Whenever I enter my room and have a look at it, it feels like an accomplishment. I see a tidy bed and I know I did it which makes me proud.

2. When my bed is made, I try not to lie down on it so as not to spoil it. This helps those with depression especially because they should only lie in bed when they want to sleep, not otherwise.

3. The best feeling is when I am back home from work. I am exhausted at the time but as soon as I enter my room my face lights up.

Do share in comments if you share this habit and how it makes you feel good 😊

  1. I don’t make my bed everyday but I am trying to form this habit. Everyone says to make your bed, so I can imagine that it has some positive impacts. I agree with the depression aspect – when the bed is made it’s harder to lay in bed all day and not do anything.

Making my bed is part of this cleaning routine that I’m trying to follow on a daily basis. It doesn’t come naturally to me hence why I need a schedule to follow.

  2. This is all so true!!! ☺️ I used to not make my bed, but then I started jsut getting into a habit that the first thing I do is getting up and make my bed, and then continue on with my day. I helps so much, and like you said doesn’t even take much time!! 😍
